Mussie’s Trip to Ethiopia Summer/ Fall 2007

5Mussie used his time while in Ethiopia to conduct meetings and organize the project.
Although Mussie knows and deeply trusts all parties involved it was vital to establish a system that would make our donors feel comforted in knowing all the funds are accounted for and thatevery penny is going towards the project.

Thanks to our generous donors Mussie had strong bargaining power and was able to negotiate an excellent arrangement and make a few beneficial modifications to sections of the school that have already been completed.

On behalf of Peace International Inc. Mussie met with representatives from The Ahsea High School Building Committee, the Tigrai Development Association (TDA) and The Unified Schools. The Representatives from each of these groups worked together to compile and sign an agreement.
A brief outline of the agreement:

Peace International Inc. has committed to:
Raise fund to help with construction of the school.


The Tigrai Development Association (TDA)
has made the commitment to:
a) Receive the money from Peace International (us) and then distribute the funds to The Ahsea High School Building Committee.
b) Monitor the project in order to make sure construction is maintained at a standard of quality and that all funds are appropriately use.
c) Report to us with regular updates and spending reports.
They have extensive experience building schools in Ethiopia. TDA is responsible for raising the funds and building the second of the two Blocks that are in use today.

The Ahsea High School Building Committee has committed to:
a) Manage the money and keep diligent records of all transactions.
b) Oversee all aspects of the actual construction.
c) Report to TDA with regular reports and updates.
The Ahsea Building committee raised funds and built the first Block. They kept diligent records and are using the first Block as the prototype for future blocks.

The Unified Schools has committed to:
a) Keeping tabs on TDA and The Ahsea High School Building Committee to make sure they are adhering to the agreement.
b) Provide teachers and school supplies.
